Most women were better left off of dragons, Evalos thought to himself while looking back at Acele. She would learn her place someday. For now, Iaslia dealt with the comment aimed at him. His neice was much more likely too impress well than that dimglow.
While he realized few people in the room would feel uninsulted the truth was his comment was aimed more at those who were obviously more cut out to be drudges. Like that Havalie girl. She was a mess and no dragon wanted a rider who was a mess and rather dull to top it off.
Acele was one of those women who had been given too much authority and now thought she had the right to speak her mind at any moment. Obnoxious as it was, he found himself able to hold his tongue. Kess remained quiet as a woman should though he still felt that she was not good enough to be friends with Iaslia.
The Candidate Master looked at him as he spoke and Evalos knew why. The room would do whatever he and Iaslia wanted it to. If they wanted everyone to be quiet and pay attention it would happen. Evalos knew that he could behave and Iaslia could ignore the other girls until lessons were over. Then, they were fair game.

The room seemed to go too quiet after the remarks from A'rik. Havalie had calmed down sufficiently though if she ever ran into Evalos outside of class she would be sure to avoid him and probably Iaslia too. The blonde was not about to let confrontation ruin her chances. Havalie too, looked around the room trying to get a sense of what the others were thinking.
Havalie knew she had very little to do with what had happened but she felt slightly guilty for being in a group of people who had ust behaved like five turn olds. Her eyes dropped to her hands and she tried to think of something that could redeem them as a class. Talking about the clutch would probably boost the mood though it seemd some people were determined to make everyone else feel bad.
Havalie could not help herself and broke the quiet with, "Candidate Master, do you think we will be able to touch the eggs? I mean if Aliath is willing." She was hoping that Aliath was a pleasant Gold after clutching and not one to be overbearing. Havalie wondered if perhaps only people on good behavior in class would get a chance to touch the eggs. It would be incentive though the Candidate Master was probably already thinking of ways to keep them entertained.
