The only dignified response was a nod of the head and E'dian quickly decided that these girls were far older than the waifs they looked to be. At least in mind if not in body, but what the elder had said... perhaps they were simply too old for their age. They needed the chance to be children, at least for a little while. The Weyrleader straightened his shoulders and turned to the bronze, who was already crouching down. E'dian scrambled up the dragon's shoulder then reached down a hand for the girls. After several moments and a couple of slips, they were seated behind him.
In the meantime, the elderly rider had remounted his own bronze, who now stood with greening wings half unfurled. E'dian pumped his fist and both pairs launched into the air in a precision that could only come from long practice. The Weyrleader leaned back to the girls, his voice raised so that they could hear over the heavy beating of the wings.
"We are going to go between. Do not fear, you will feel Xialanth with you. It will only be moments until we are back to the Weyr."
Once both dragons were at a decent height above the treeline both bronzes flapped once more then went between in a rush of frigid air. Before one could reach the count of three they reappeared over the rim of Ponaa Weyr, the whole of the bowl laid out before them. From a high ledge, the golden Queen Aliath lifted her head and bugled to the pair. The blue watchdragon on the rim added his brassy treble to the greeting. The elderly bronze went into a lazy spiral down into the bowl and Xialanth followed, the wind whistling over his broad wings.
All too soon they were at the bottom and with strong backwards beats, Xialanth landed with his typical neat fashion. He turned back his head to assure that his charges were safe before crouching so that they could dismount. Clearly warned of their arrival, several creche nurses were standing nearby to assist the girls. E'dian nodded to them reassuringly before they were rushed away.
(Alright, you're at the Weyr. Have at it!)
