For the first time in a while, Trevan could feel a hint of a smile creeping onto his lips. In just an instant, his world had been turned upside down. Who knew if his uncle would even believe him when he told him.....He wasn't worried about Anessa. She had always felt like a caged animal in the desolate Hold. And anywhere Tre went, she would go.
The weight that had been on his shoulders for so long lifted some.
"Not much. We can carry most, if not all, on our backs." There were clothes, Trevan had his nice shirt and a pair of boots he'd like to take. The rest he already held in his hands. Toress could probably get by with whatever they had there in terms of equipment, but maybe they should take a spare hammer or two? Between the three of them, they should be able to handle whatever Anessa wanted to bring. Yes, it would work.
His mind was already racing ahead, that for a moment he forgot his company. "I'll meet you back here?" A note at the end of his question almost betrayed his uncertainty that this wasn't real, that when he brought his family back he'd only find humid jungle.
But then he glanced at the blue dragon again. Nope, this was definetly happening.

With a short nod and a shooing motion, J'sian sent Trevan on his way. As the boy raced off, he turned to face the blue behind him. A small smile crept up across his face and he patted his dragon's shoulder affectionately. Well, that did go well indeed.
He will do well. Big I think. Another nod followed another pat on the blue's shoulder. J'sian paused to lean against the dragon to wait, musing. Maybe this all was going to work out after all. "I think so, and a real smith will be great for the Weyr."
It will be good. J'sian chuckled and let out a long breath, he really didn't want to have to do this again. Maybe next time he should just fly Ali in as opposed to sneaking about. Sharding boy nearly stepped on his dragon anyway. He shook his head with amusement as they waited.

Time couldn't go quickly enough. After the rushed story, the convincing, and finally the packing, Trevan was sure the rider and dragon had grown impatient and left without them. He stomped through the Jungle, waving aside vines and branches, leading the way back to the spot. He was forced to stop twice, once because he'd left them behind, and another because his uncle needed to catch his breath.
They burst into the clearing finally, Trevan sweaty but excited. He made the introductions in a hurried fashion, very much like a little child shoveling in his dinner to get to dessert. "J'sian, Alimeth, Anessa, Uncle Toress...Anessa, Uncle Toress, J'sian. Blue dragon," he emphasized it slightly, as if proving he'd been right, "is Alimeth." Toress had no choice now than to admit he'd been telling the truth.
He turned back to the rider, but his eyes were on the dragon. "So...how are we supposed to get on that thing?"

The large blue crouched, an extended a foreleg in an obvious gesture. J'sian stepped forward and motioned for the small group to come closer. "Step on his leg, then grab the straps and swing up." He vaulted up the dragon's leg in demonstration, then with both legs securely locked between ridges, he reached a hand down.
Alimeth glanced pointedly at Trevan and spoke, much to the surprise of his rider to the young man. Whirling eyes regarding him with a blue several shades lighter than his side. I am not a thing. I am a dragon.
All J'sian could do was laugh and pat his dragon's back. Alimeth always found a way to surprise him, even after their turns together. Talking to a holder lad was just the newest one in a range of many.
