The humming was gradual. R'lec had been eating with several members of his wing when Myneth joined in. It has begun. The eggs! It was one of those moments where no communication was needed with any of the others - anyone with a dragon, or ears for that matter, had to know what was going on. It had been too long since the last Hatching, and even then the numbers had been dismal. Aliath's clutch, her very first, had been larger than the last two put together.
Myneth had nothing but praise for her as he hummed encouragingly from his ledge near the entrance of the caves.
R'lec found a crowd was already beginning to form in the Gallery. When some saw him, they stepped to the side, letting him through. Riding a bronze did have its privleges, and he would enjoy a good view from where his position, directly in the front row.
There's a hatching! A hatching! It's staaaarting!
Certh's sing-song tones found their way into V'rant's head. "Oh?!" His head snapped up from the map he'd been looking over in their weyr. It'd been given to him the day before by E'dian himself, with points indicated that he'd like Searched. Well, it seems like the deadline for this Hatching was past. He'd look to them later. Regardless of if there was a clutch on the Sands or not, he and Certh would find some excuse to sneak out and have some fun. Um...that is, Search.
What are we waiting for? We're gonna miss it!
"Comin'! Coming!" He was busy shoving his head into a shirt that been lying on his bed, slightly wrinkled from its abuse earlier that morning. It wouldn't do to show up at such an occassion half dressed. Well, V'rant wouldn't mind, but he was sure E'dian and several others would.
Clothes fully on, the blue rider vaulted onto Certh's neck for a quick ride over to the action. The smaller blue deposited his rider than launched himself again to make room for the larger dragons. He ended up on one of the higher ledges, humming happily.
"Didn't miss anything, did I?" He called to a friend in the crowd. Satisfied that they'd made it on time (for once), he took a seat in the stands and waited for the show to begin. He had money on who was getting what, and was always eager to collect. Although a Hatching was such a happy occassion, the looks on the Candidates' faces was enough to soften the blow of losing. Who could be anything but joyful today?
