The soft sounds of humans and dragons sleeping were heard throughout the Barracks. Havalie could only assume that the same could be said of the male barracks. The blonde smiled as she watched her green sleep fitfully, she was very close to waking. Dawn had come so quickly for her. After visiting the feast briefly to get some food, she had comeback to watch over her new dragon.
Shock had worn off and she felt extremely proud that she had impressed such a wonderful little green. Sarenth had slept through the night and Havalie could not sleep for all the excitement and thoughts that ran through her mind. She had already dressed herself in a light coloreed blouse, with dark brown leggings underneath. Soon she would be meaured for her first pair of leathers. In the time it took Sarenth to wake, Havalie french braided her blonde hair back so as not to let it get in the way.
If she was at all surprised about the little Gold and her choice, she did not show it. Having her own dragon surpassed all other thoughts. Once Sarenth had fully roused herself she bespoke Havalie, Is it time to eat now? "I think we are meeting the Weyrlingmaster in front of the Barracks to recieve our instructions for the day then we will do what we can to get you something to eat my lovely." Okay. The green was not as pushy as the day before and much more like her rider than was at first apparent.
The pair were one of the first few up and out of the building. Waiting for others to wake and join them, Havalie could not help but wonder what was in store for them now. Weyrling Training was said to be very difficult physically and mentally.
-----------
I do not want to be last. I should be first. I was the first to Hatch and I am the best Bronze in the class. "You are the only Bronze in the clutch." Ev'os replied trying desperately not to laugh at his dragon. "I'm already dressed what more do you want."
You are going to class like that? "Yeah, whats wrong with what I'm wearing?" I mean, if you want to look like you just rolled out of bed... His dragon had more green in him than he had thought. I am NOT green. If you do not want to look like you are the best that is your perogative. I am the best Bronze and I should appear that way. Which translated to if you want to be the best you have to look the part.
Ev'os took no small amount of effort getting out a better outfit. His dark hair was combed and he had a washed and clean appearance. It could not hurt, he supposed. Especially if it meant Rovanoth would be happy. Much better. For tomorrow it would help if you polished those boots.
Rolling his eyes he led the dragon out of the barracks where a few were already standing, including that dimglow Havalie. He might as well get used to having those types around. Lesser colors required lesser people. The Bronze snorted his agreement.

With a stomach that was still clearly distended, Nisurath stood somewhat patiently while Iaslia applied a generous portion of oil to the gold's hide. Her red mass of hair was pulled back in a bun, but wisps as usual, escaped their confines. Even if others looked at the gold with fear for her thin sides and pale hide, Iaslia could not see anything beyond perfection in her beloved partner. So hat if she was a little thin? She would fill out in time and Iaslia would see that she would not lack for anything.
"Did I miss anything?" She ducked under one pale wing as she inspected the Queen. Iaslia couldn't be sure but it had seemed that Nisurath had grown some overnight. Thinking back on Phaedon's growth charts, she decided that was entirely likely. No, nothing itches. Can we go now? The others wake. Oh! That was right, there first lesson was today. Iaslia spun and sprinted back inside the communal barracks the girls shared and quickly changed her oil stained shirt and pants.
Lifting her head she saw Havalie, clearly enamored with her little Green. They all must look like that, Iaslia thought and wrinkled her nose with amusement. Fools in love. She felt a bump at her back and turned with a grin to look into whirling blue eyes. We should go now. With a laugh, Iaslia draped her arm over the Queen's shoulders, and the pair walked out after Havalie and Sarenth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The retired Weyrleader, now Weyrling Master sat quietly in the communal area between the boys and girls barracks. Birath had let him know the sun was just starting to warm the ledges so the kids should be starting to arrive. N'sian ran a hand through hair that was all gray now and he sighed. Birath wanted to rest, especially now that Arizith was gone. But there was always work to be done and he wanted to see this batch of Weyrlings to adulthood before he went between for the last time
First a green and her rider entered, then came the bronze and his. N'sian looked over the pair with an approving snort. They looked to be in fine fiddle, then the gold and her rider entered. N'sian looked over the pair with a critical eye. That hatchling was far too thin and looked to weak to survive, he had been amazed it had hatched at all. He leaned back in the chair and laced his fingers together in his lap, waiting.
Kesstriel had spent little of the night at the feast, taking the time to enjoy some food and a little klah. She lingered for a moment to interact with the other feast goers then retired to her barracks. Claralth was asleep just as she had left him. She changed into a loose night shirt, scrubbed her face and neck, then took a seat on the cot. She sat with her legs folded beneath her, hands cupping her chin, eyes fixed on those of the sleeping dragon. He was perfect. His hide was a clear deep blue and seemed to have a very even tone, darkening slightly at the joints and the tips of his claws and wings. How perfect he seemed to her.
She curled up in her bed, her eyes remaining on the young dragon until sleep finally claimed her. The pair slept well, dawn coming far too early. Kess awoke and remained on the cot for a brief moment, then rose and dressed herself in work clothes. Claralth would have his first oiling before their first weyrling lesson. She scratched lightly at the ridges above Clar's eyes. Good morning... Its time to wake up and get started for the day. She enjoyed not having to speak as much. Time spent in her own head would no longer be a lonesome affair.
Is it time to eat again? I am hungry. His eyes whirled. Kess chose to speak aloud, to break through the scratchyness of early morning voice. "We shall eat soon enough, first your hide will need some oil, then we are to meet with the weyrling master who will let us know our schedule for the day." She placed her hand on the dragons forehead. He looked up at her conveying a tinge of disappointment. "It wont be long at all I promise." She proceeded to liberally oil Claralths hide, being sure to get everything from his wingtips to the joints. His hide responded well, soaking in the oil. She then gave herself another scrubbing to remove the oil from her hands and arms. A deep blue tunic and dark brown leggings replaced the night shirt. Once she had her boots on she stood. You ready for this? Of course
The pair made their way out of the barracks to join the rest of the class. Several pairs of weyrlings had beaten them out. Ev'os and Rovanoth, Havalie and Sarenth, and her cousin Iaslia and her weyrling queen Nisurath. Her dragon did look a little gaunt, however with time and good meat Kess was sure that the young queen would bulk up. She strode to her cousins side, Claralth beside her.
The pair slept soundly, Nanyaa visited the feast and lingered for a while to spend time with Navace, eating little as per her usual. When she arrived at her new barracks Niddalath and her said barely a word to each other, simply basked happily in each others company and fell asleep.
The awakening was abrupt and frankly rather rude as the brown shoves Nanyaa awake, It's time to get up, most the others are already out. Alright alright... I'm up I'm up...
Yawning loudly the girl stretches and sleepily dresses herself. Brown button up shirt and black breaches, get put on in a hurry, so much so the shirt is actually inside out. Hair gets thrown into a loose tail, just to hopefully keep some of it from her eyes. Giving the brown a quick oil down, having issues seeing where she may have missed, good enough the both agreed.
The two meander out and take a look around, Niddalath was right, any longer they probably would have been late, if they were not already. Everyone seemed as proud as she to be with their new partner. To see all the colors, it was a beautiful clutch, even the sickly looking gold stood proud with her rider, in time she'll be as beautiful as her mother.
You know, I have never been a positive person or calm, I must have been waiting for you. The only response is an approving snort from Niddalath, she nods to him as well and smirks waiting.
With a weathered gaze, N'sian took in those now gathered around him. The former Weyrleader had seen many clutches, though not nearly as many as he would have liked. This group though, there was something about them that boded differently for the old rider. His dark eyes flicked around the room as he studied those before him silently. A strange group indeed, if; he paused to think, an important one.
Well, not all of them were here. But the day would not stop for lazy Weyrlings and the hotter that sun got, the worse it would be on the work. N'sian clucked his tongue and unrolled the hide laying on the table in front of him. When he spoke, his voice was like weathered gravel on a mountainside. "First things first, you receive your new rank cords today. They are to be worn on your shoulder in the traditional manner. Next those of you that have oiled your beasts will take them straight down to the feeding ground to eat. Mind that they don't overfeed. Phaedon will no doubt be there to inspect them. The rest of you will have to catch up."
He let the phrase drop off and he looked at each one of the Candidates in turn. Oh yes, the Healer would elaborate on the importance of overfeeding as well as no doubt give the dragonets a through looking over. Which, he decided, looking at the sickly gold, was in order. His eyes glanced back down at the paper and he cleared his throat.
"After they have been inspected and measured, you will bed them down as they will no doubt sleep most of the day. Then you will report back here for the remaining lessons for the day." N'sian rolled the hide back up then nodded to them in curt dismissal. "Off with you and mind they watch their wings on the steps."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As the Weyrling Master spoke, Iaslia couldn't help but smile after Kess and her blue walked up beside them. Really seeing another dragon for the first time since she had Impressed, the red head was in awe at the shade of blue his hide was. He really looked like a jewel, especially oiled up like he was. Nisurath snorted and placed the tip of her wedge shaped nose into Iaslia's hand. The nerve of her looking at another dragon, especially a blue while she was here.
Scratching an eye ridge absently, Iaslia shortly soothed the little queen's hurt pride as N'sian continued to speak. Havalie and Sarenth had certainly been the first ones into the common area, but as N'sian dismissed the small group, she was not the first out the door. Nisurath bobbed her head in ready anticipation of a meal and as soon as was proper, was off out the main entrance, with Iaslia trotting after her. Watch your wings!
The pale gold paused to look back as Iaslia caught up with her, and her look could only be called one of haughty indignation. I will never trip over myself. In a wise decision, the girl chose not to bring up the previous day's events, for aside from the Impression itself, it was likely Nisurath had forgotten mostly about it. Dragon memory, good with places and major events, but rarely so with human names and day to day activities. I remember eating. I want to eat again.
The pale tail lashed as they made their way down the flight of steps that led to the first level and then outside the Weyr. Oh no doubt about her remembering that. "Of course you remember eating, you need to do a lot more to grow strong." The only response from the gold was another indignant snort.

Well I guess it was a good thing I at least attempted to get you oiled, do you think it's well enough? Yes Alright off we go then, mind your wings? Of course. You really think you will sleep most the day? Perhaps.
Still curious and excitedly nervous Nanyaa followed along behind the gold and Isalia, Niddalath walks calmly beside her. After a moment she wondered if she should have let the others follow first, was there an edict to this? If there was surely someone would say something but for now, on they went. Bitting her bottom lip Nanyaa began to worry about the days lessons.
What is wrong? Oh... nothing I ... I guess just nervous about lessons, be on my own. Not completely, there are lessons and teachers for a reason, you must remain calm so you can learn. Right,I will do my best. One thing at a time and you will do fine, but first food. Yes, yes remember your wings please, neither of us needs to take a tumble and I fear you would injure the gold badly as well if we did. I will take care, as should you you never tied your boots. Oh... thanks.
Looking down sure enough she did not, and now also realizing her shirt is inside out, explaining why it was so difficult to button. Oh well, next time she should way up earlier. So many things that need to change, but as Niddalath said one thing at a time.

It took little time for Havalie to follow instructions. She was certainly looking forward to every moment of her life with Sarenth. Within the bucket she had brought were soap sand, scrubbing brushes and oil. Havalie went to work on her green as soon as they made it to the lake. Bathing and oiling was essential. First one scrubbed off the flaky skin and then the oil was applied liberally throughout the hide.
She did not want her dragon to have any hide problems later in life. Even the increasingly hungry Sarenth could agree to that. It would not take Havalie that long to wash and oil her green. Tomorrow she needed to try to rouse the green earlier in order to do it before the lesson. She had no idea that it needed to be done first. Still excuses were for children. Tomorrow would be better.
It took about half a candlemark for her to finish though she would probably be the last to arrive at the Feeding Grounds. Silly human, we have plenty of time, besides I have to sleep before you can go back and I don't feel even a little tired.
--------
Ev'os was glad he had already oiled Rovanoth, although the Bronze had made him get up at an obscene hour. He supposed it was worth it but then he did miss getting a good night's sleep. Noting that the Weyrling Master was not a patient sort of person he told Rovanoth they were going to eat promptly.
"Oh dear, the Dragon Healer could take all day. No falling asleep while we are there Rovanoth. I am not carrying you back to the Barracks." Ev'os was quite determined about that. Overeating was not going to be a problem, his Bronze cared about his image. "Dragonmen avoid excess, greed will bring the Weyr distress." He sighed, ballads were hardly any use to him now they were so ingrained in him.
They arrived after the Gold though Rovanoth did try to be first. I do not mind if Nisurath eats first. That could almost go without saying. It was more what he didn't say that conveyed what he was thinking. The browns, blues and greens should know their place, behind him.
---------
At the Feeding Grounds the MAster Dragon Healer waited patiently. They would be arriving any moment. With a quick glance in the direction of the Weyrling Barracks he caught a glimpse of Golden hide and knew they were on their way. Nisurath and Iaslia were first to arrive and he was very concerned about the little Gold's appearance.
"Good day to you Weyrling Iaslia and Gold Nisurath." He smiled, hiding his thoughts about the sickly looking Gold. "Let her feed, but do not let her over eat. When she is finished, I'd like to get a measurement on her and also a quick physical exam. Nothing painful or that takes long." He did not know the brown Weyrling that came up behind her but he turned his attention to the newcomers.
"Good morning. Let your brown feed and then we will be doing a physical and a measurement. Also can I have your names..." He asked the same of everyone as they walked toward him. He wrote them all down in his journal, looking very intrigued and excited.

Iaslia led the little gold over to a couple of buckets that had been portioned out for them. She nodded silently in approval, that made things much easier. Hard to overfeed a hatchling when their food was already measured out. Nisurath sat, her long tail curling around her body and opened her maw expectantly. With a small smile, Ias pulled out the first couple of gobbets and began to pass them into the somewhat patiently waiting gold.
As she fed her, Iaslia took the time to admire the pale creature. Nisurath was thin as a rail and it made the red head wrinkle her brow with worry. Luckily the newly hatched dragon was concentrating on chewing as fast as she could to miss the change in attitude of her rider. It did not take long for the gold to finish off her portion and Iaslia grinned as Nisurath licked her muzzle clean. "Alright, now Phaedon needs to measure you."
Why? I am big enough. "Well yes, but you're going to be growing and we need to make sure you are eating enough." I could eat more. I want to nap after. The newly made Weyrling grinned at the imperious little dragon and asked her to pause in front of the dragon healer. Iaslia pushed her hair back over her shoulder and huffed, it was too long if she was going to be doing work like this all the time now.
"Master, she says she's still hungry. Should I give her more?" The tip of Nisurath's tail flicked restlessly as she twisted her head to look around at the rest of the Weyrlings. Good, she had been first down to eat as it should be. It would not do for one of the others to have gone before her. The gold tilted her head so one greenly whirling eye was focused on Iaslia. It is good you're mine. You are too tall for the others. Once again, Iaslia found herself covering her mouth with her hand to stifle a giggle.

Kesstriel remained with her hand on the back of Claralth's neck. The blue's muscles responded to her touch. He rumbled softly. A smile flashed across her face. Ias was next to her with her weyrling queen. The think dragonet was painfully thin, Kess scanned the dragon, her hide was a creamy tone, with the hint of warm liquid god tones. It was really a quite exquisite hide. Claralth leaned into her. She glanced down at him before looking up at the Weyrling Master.
Since she had already oiled Clar, she followed the masters instructions and headed down to the feeding grounds. Finding the set buckets of meat, they stopped. Ias was helping her Nisurath dive into the waiting portion, Ev'os and Rovanoth had also begun their meal. Kess turned to help Claralth with his gobbets only to find him independently munching. "Well I see you don't need my help here..." Her tone was sarcastic but the entertainment behind it was well meant. I enjoy being proficient at tasks.
She giggled at his comment. The weyrling master is going to want to measure you and check you for any problems. His eyes whirled up at her. She got the feeling that he didn't mind the master checking him over. Better to be sure of his health. Kess knew that he was perfect, though large for a blue. His size was slightly smaller then a brown. Interesting how a girl of below average size would have a dragon of above average size.

Staring blankly at the Dragon Master Healer for a moment as he spoke and asked her name the girl stood there awkwardly. Out loud girl, only I can hear you. Right...
"Er... Nanyaa and this is Niddalath," She strokes the browns neck as she introduces him. Another awkward pause but Niddalath shoves her with his head to the side to get her going. Waving with a half grin she turns and heads to the feeding buckets. I really looked dumb... I can not deny that, something to work on. Annoyed at herself Nanyaa keeps her head down while offering the food.
Still chastising herself even after Niddalath finished eating, the girl keeps her head down and scratches the browns jaw line absently as they wait for their turn for inspection by the Dragon healer.

Master Phaedon had his work cut out for him. "Niddalath and Nanyaa." He wrote down in his journal. As minutes went on he noted several of the Weyrlings were a bit nervous answering him with names than he thought would be. They were worried they would mess up the first day which was highly unlikely with all the supervision they got the first few sevendays.
When Iaslia asked him a question he turned to face her with a casual smile. "You are the only one who can judge that. Still seeing as she is a growing dragon she should eat until she feels sated." He could not tell her when enough was enough. Nisurath and Aliath were different and even knowing how much one dragon eats in comparison to another does not help.
"Let me know when she is finished." Phaedon added and turned back to see the latest arrival coming with a recently oiled green. "Names please." The man continued with all eighteen of the Weyrlings. Niddalath, a brown, seemed to have finished eating first. "Alright Nanyaa, how does he feel now that he is eaten?" A happy, full and sleepy dragonet was what he wanted. As he asked her questions he looked at the dragons, eyes, mouth, muzzle, neck, legs, body, tail, wings and claws. Then he measured the dragon with an odd looking stick.
"Niddalath is in fine health. He's measured at about 7 meters, you are set to go." He noted that in his notebook and moved on to the girl with the blue dragon who seemed about finished. Looking at his list of names he picked hers out. Right, he nodded to himself. "Kess and Claralth, are you ready?"
-------
As she approached the Dragon Healer she heard him saying something to Iaslia and then he turned to face her. Names? Oh! "This is Sarenth and I'm Havalie." She noticed he jotted down their names and returned his attention to the other newcomers.
Sarenth reminded Havalie of her intense hunger. "You will eat my dear one. Let me get a bucket for you." Havalie found one that had not been touched and took out some of the meat. She was not disgusted by it, having worked in the kitchens but it was not the most pleasant of smells. Wrinkling her nose, the blonde began to feed Sarenth her second meal.
As insatiable as she seemed at first, the green began to feel full very quickly, much more so than her larger clutchmates. I feel tired now. Havalie smiled, "Of course you do. Your belly is full and you have had a busy morning with a bath and oiling. We'll get you back to your couch in the Barracks as soon as possible." Which may be a few minutes longer than she was anticipating.
----
Ravenous hunger had taken over the Bronzes thoughts though first Ev'os had to speak with the Master Dragon Healer. Names were easy enought to give. Within moments the dragon was waiting, none too patiently for his meat. The new rider was only too happy to oblige him.
The Bronze was too engulfed in food to notice all the others eating. He might have been one of the first there but he was not going to be leaving first. He ate more than the smaller dragons. "Your going to eat the Weyr out of herdbeast." Highly unlikely. Besides they want me to eat as much as I need. "Needs are different than wants."
The Bronze had already eaten his fair share in Ev'os mind but he was growing and he was Bronze. So he let him start on another bucket, only finishing a couple more pieces before declaring. I am finished. "Alright then, off to the Dragon Healer we go. "

It really wasn't T'van's fault he was late.
Solo, that insatiably curious young firelizard, had thought it his duty to the new rider to do a thorough inspection of Hirith.
Their day had started off normal enough. T'van had to remind himself he'd changed Barracks as the light pried his lids apart. He'd overslept, but that only meant the light had a chance to creep through the window across from his bed for once before he awoke. When he was a kid it was a game he liked to play - who would rise first - him or the sun. Hirth had obviously no interest in playing this game, as he was still curled contentedly on his couch. Solo was another story.
His curious chirp was what greeted the hatchling. It seemed brown was T'van's color, although Solo was more of a lighter shade than his Hirith. Small blue whirling eyes met with a larger, fast whirling of green to red to blue. Hirith enjoyed his sleeping, but was now more than ready to eat and start the day. They wouldn't be leaving the Barracks though, until Solo had a thorough look over - finally announcing his approval to T'van just about the time Iaslia was reporting to lessons.
"Shards! We're late!" He shoved into the nearest clothes he could find before leading Hirith out. It took even longer to find everyone, who had disbanded into clumps. They went to the larger one at the feeding grounds, since the brown dragonet was quite persistent in mentioning how hungry he was.

Kess dropped down to her knees and helped Claralth with the last few gobbets of meat. Was that enough? She wiped her hands with a spare cloth. Yes, I am satisfied. Can I have a nap now? She placed a hand on the back of his neck. You will soon enough, but right now Master Phaedon has to check you out. Clar rumbled in agreement. She looked up at the sound of Phaedon approaching the pair.
"Yes sir. We're ready." She rose to her feet and brushed the dirt from her knees. She grinned then turned to see T'van approach with his brown. She gave him a wave for a greeting then returned to attention to the dragon healer who was inspecting her Claralth. She watched the Master Dragon Healer closely, her eyes following each move. Not really being over protective, more wanting to know what was going on. Claralth stood still, and almost seemed like a living statue. She scratching his eye ridges while Phaedon took notes on Clar's size, coloration, and general well being.

With a succinct nod, Iaslia turned, in step with Nisurath to appropriate another one of the buckets for the yet ravenous gold. It was not long before that too was empty, and Nisurath was diligently licking her jaw and Iaslia's hands clean. The gold stretched as the meat settled in her stomach and pronounced herself full and ready for a nap. The girl beside her sighed and tapped the pale gold smartly on her nose. "First, Phaedon needs to see you."
Once again, the skinny pair made their way back to the dragon healer. She tilted her head to turn a whirling eye on the Healer, even as a hatching she was taller than most of the humans. I hope this is fast, I want to sleep now. Iaslia bobbed her head to the healer, her unusual attitude no doubt due to the dragon beside her. She hadn't even looked at the others long enough to bother picking on them.
"She says shes full now and that she wants to sleep." This was of course, just about all the Weyrlings did at the this stage in life, sleep and eat. Frankly, Iaslia was just glad that Nisurath was eating. Even with the two good meals in her, the gold looked gaunt. she frowned worriedly as she looked over her partner. Nisurath just snorted in response. She was niether weak nor sick, she was a Queen.

The dragonets finished at different intervals but one man could not get to all of them as soon as they were finished. He worked more efficiently than any of the journeyman though and he only trusted himself to look over these new Hatchlings. The Weyr was counting on Aliath's brood to strengthen them.
Claralth was next after Niddalath. "Alright. Lets see." He took a few moments to look over vitals and such. "If you note anything unusual about him these first few days do not hesitate to come find me. I'd rather we were safe than sorry. Claralth seems to be in fine color which indicates good health. He is measured at six and a half meters." Phaedon smiled at the pair and sent them on their way.
A few greens followed but all were quickly done and sent on to the Barracks.
Next in line was the Bronze but Ev'os deferred for the Gold dragonet. "Alright Iaslia, lets look at her." He noticed she was gaunt but the reasoning behind it was out of his reach at the moment. He spoke very softly to Iaslia so that no one but she could hear him.
"I'm concerned about her. She ate well but I would like you to check in with me every day if you don't mind. I want to make sure we are doing all we can to keep her healthy. She may just be different but I've never seen a dragonet look like her before. Let me know immediately if anything about her changes from appetite to attitude. Now I am going to measure her but I'd like you to keep in mind, Queens can grow larger than their mothers so do not use Aliath as the only guideline. I know its a lot to read but the records room may provide some help for Nisurath."
He finished with a measurement of nine meters. "She is longer than Aliath was..." Was all he said and then gave her leave to go.
Next he examined, Bronze Rovanoth, who seemed to be doing better than the only dragon larger than him in the clutch. Still something in the dragonet worried him which he could not rightly explain. It was a feeling that was all, he told himself. "Well he ate well and seems to be fit as a fiddle. Just do me a favor, check in with me every couple days. The largest ones in the clutch need extra attention sometimes. "
He spoke, not knowing what other excuse he could use to get the boy to visit without thinking there was something wrong with the Bronze. Perhaps it was the greenish hue to some of his hide? Phaedon just decided to move on and measure him. Rovanoth was almost eight meters in length though not quite. A good size just like Nisurath, larger than previous clutches.
Another blue followed and then it was Sarenth. The green was not as groggy as the larger dragons though it was suprising since larger dragons had more stamina. The greenrider asked him numerous questions which he answered quickly and easily. the green like, Claralth was in excellent health as far as he could tell but as he told everyone, she needed to let him know if anything changed in appetite or demeanor of the green. She was measured at an average size for her color, of five and a half meters.
When she was done the rest of the clutch followed with a brown still finishing his meal. Phaedon would wait for Hirith to finish to examine him. This was good bonding time for dragons and their riders.
--------------
Ev'os was about to approach after a few greens had seen the Master Dragon Healer but he noticed how tired Nisurath was and decided to wait, "Nisurath should be first and Rovanoth does not mind waiting." Yes, but only for Nisurath and Aliath would I wait.
Silly Bronze. While they waited, Ev'os saw the concern on Phaedon's face and knew something was not right with Nisurath. Luckily, Iaslia was strong and would be able to handle a conversation about her Gold without tearing up or causing emotional distress to Nisurath. He did worry about his neice and who would care about what she was going through.
As Rovanoth was being inspected he saw a similair look play across the man's face and raised an eyebrow. His Bronze was in great health. He looked nothing like Nisurath. Still he would do as the man asked. He was a large Bronze, which pleased Ev'os' to hear although he was still slightly on edge about that look. Still they were allowed to go back to the barracks.
I am well. Do not be concerned. "Of course you are. The best dragon in the clutch and I will not hear anyone gainsay me in that." The dragon felt the warmth and steadfastness of his rider and also felt at ease. He was increasingly tired but he would make it to the Barracks.

Waiting was easy enough, knowing that the larger dragons would want and expect to be first. Havalie took the time she was waiting with Sarenth to talk with her dragon. Though it seemed she was talking to herself. Havalie had not mastered mind speak and so was prone to talking outloud to her dragon. She heard many of the others doing the same.
Havalie listened to the answers of her numerous questions as Phaedon looked Sarenth over. The green watched him curiously though she did not make any remarks directly at him she asked Havalie. What's that for? Why is he looking at my mouth? My wings are fine. That tickles! The woman almost laughed. "Sorry she has a lot to say about everything your doing. As they say, curiousity killed the feline..."
The master smiled at her. She knew what he was thinking, greenriders are sweet and pleasant but not the most important in the Weyr. With a soft sigh she awaited the green's measurement. "Average is wonderful." She was very happy to hear that. It would make her growth easier to follow. The pair left with a nod to the Master Dragon Healer and were off to settle down in the Barracks. Havalie's only thought then was what they were going to do the rest of the day while the dragon's slept.
