Honestly, how could a dragon ever be that fussy? It was like taking care of an overgrown child. A huge, demanding overgrown child that was in your head. Iaslia stalked into the Infirmary with a look on her face that was anything but warm and welcoming. Of course the Weyrling girl was never what anyone would call warm and fuzzy. She paused and glanced about the room imperiously, and now when she needed a Healer there was none in sight.
Nisurath had been having one of her harder days and it was bad enough that the Weyr nearly smothered both of them with worry. Iaslia had almost had to force the little gold to eat, which for a Weyrling was something indeed to worry over. And on top of Nisurath being a royal pain, Iaslia had slipped on the hide oil and managed to jar her shoulder enough that she was fairly sure it was out of the socket. She hadn't cried. Iaslia didn't cry. At least, not in public and certainly not where anyone could possibly ever have any idea about it.
So, she stood in the entrance to the Weyr's large and devastatingly empty infirmary with her limp arm across her chest being held by the other. Nisurath was of course, a firm presence in the back of her mind that while helped her rider shared the pain, was quite obvious in its opinion that Iaslia should not have fallen in the first place. Now a drudge was finishing the job of oiling the pale Weyrling queen, and Nisurath was not pleased.
Iaslia was fuming enough that her skin reflected the red in her hair to a rather remarkable extent. This was not a good day so far. It had better begin to improve or she was likely to bite someone's head off, literally. She bit her lip as the pain lanced through her shoulder. Shards and shells, where in the name of Faranth were those healers!

Wyakin was supremely unamused. She had spent the morning being harassed by a young boy who was certain he had firehead and was going to die and would not stop screaming and wailing, and his obviously weary nurse, who was unable to convince the child that there was really nothing wrong with him and had taken him to the Infirmary as a last resort. Needless to say, Wyakin found this plan to be flawed. Extremely flawed.
At first she had tried to be sympathetic. It was, after all, just a little boy. It wasn't exactly his fault that he was being insane, because he was five. Five-Turners were not obligated to behave rationally. But this was getting really, really annoying. Beyond all reason. Shards, he hadn't even been her patient for the first hour or so, until the other Healer on duty had finally given up and handed him over, but she'd had to listen to his screeching all day nevertheless.
This was doing nothing for her perpetual headache.
Finally, she snapped. "Shut up!" she snarled at the child, leaning down to bring herself closer to his eye level. She pulled an enormous syringe out of her waist-pouch and waved it in front of the boy's face. "If you don't shut up right now," she continued in a low voice, "I will have to use this on you. Do you want that?"
Wide-eyed and blessedly silent, the boy shook his head. Rapidly.
Wyakin huffed and straightened up. "Good." She put the syringe away. The boy visibly sagged in relief. Wyakin tried not to be amused by this.
The nurse looked shocked. "He's just a child!" she said as Wyakin turned to walk away. "Can't you humor him?"
"Dammit, woman," Wyakin muttered under her breath as she continued in the other direction, dusting her hands off on the sides of her legs, "I'm a Healer, not a nursemaid. That's your job."
All right. Annoyance Number One: neutralized. Now on to the next.
The next annoyance, as it turned out, happened to be the Weyr's newest Queenrider. Wyakin wouldn't have known this, since she more or less ignored everything that happened outside of the Infirmary as much as possible, except for the fact that the dragons would not shut up about it. It was Nisurath this and Nisurath that and oh dear poor lovely Nisurath is so terribly unwell, what shall we do? And no matter how many times Wyakin broadcasted an order to shut the shells up, the blabber continued. She knew the girl's face from images, but not her name - dragons just called her "Nisurath's."
Wyakin eyed her suspiciously. She wasn't a big fan of Queenriders in general, and she was already annoyed with Nisurath's simply because her dragon's name had been repeated so obnoxiously much. That and she looked surly. Wyakin hated surly people.
And if that bit of hypocrisy didn't kill you, you may continue to read this post.
"What's the matter with you?" she demanded, raising her eyebrows up at the taller girl and planting one hand on her hip. Obviously she could see what was wrong with the girl from the way she was standing, but quite honestly her mood wasn't the greatest right now and she felt like being a bitch. So that was exactly what she was going to do.

That one? That was the only Healer around, why oh why did it have to be that one. The only thing worse than a grumpy dragon was the darn woman who happened to hear said grumpy dragon almost as much as her rider did. Of course Nisurath was loud, she was a Queen after all. Even if she was a small and rather sick one. If Nisurath wasn't her annoyingly persistent love of her life, Iaslia would have told the Queen to go bend a tail. Actually, come to think of it, she already had.
The Weyrling girl made an attempt to place her hands on her hips in their usual customary 'Iaslia is ticked off' position and immediately regretted it. She winced visibly and cradled the bad arm once more. Are you getting fixed yet. It still hurts. This drudge cannot reach my back and I am itchy. Iaslia ground her teeth together, the irritation clearly going both ways with their bond. What happened to all the rainbows and gather days that Weyrlinghood was supposed to be? Working on it... love. Good because you need to come back and scratch me.
Fixing green eyes on this sorry excuse for a Healer, Iaslia wanted to be out of here as fast as possible. Honestly, brandishing implements at children; even Iaslia didn't do that. She just growled at them until they submitted. "Right." She bit the pain back by grinding her teeth together. "Can't you see whats wrong? Where is the real Healer? I think I got my shoulder out of joint."
She was not about to let this sorry thing touch her. Likely that one would only make things worse, or just wave a syringe at her until she left. By Faranth's first egg, this day could not possibly get any worse. It could be worse, I could not get scratched. Yes, that would be worse.

Wyakin tried not to be inordinately pleased by the look of mingled horror and snooty disgust that crossed the young Goldrider's face as she came into view. She failed. She had to admit, she really actually liked that most people disliked her. She found it amusing beyond all reason. Also, she didn't like this girl. She was good at snap decisions like that.
She also tried not to be amused by the way the Gold Weyrling twitched in pain after trying to strike a "tough" pose. At this she fared slightly better, because as a Healer it was her job to care when people were in pain, and her job meant everything to her... so it wasn't quite so funny as it might have been otherwise.
And then the Goldrider opened up her big fat mouth, and suddenly her pain became hilarious. Wyakin's expression, previously only mildly irritated as usual, darkened. The real Healer?
Oh. Now it was on.
"Well, my lady," Wyakin said, voice dripping venom and sarcasm as her fingers tapped instinctively along her belt toward the various syringes she kept on her at all times. The one she had been waving at the boy was actually empty; most of them were full of much more interesting things than air.
"I suppose, if you'd rather not have me work on you, you can just sit your glorious little ass down and wait. I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, though, because the only other Healer on duty at the moment is Orlaymien, and he's nearing eighty." She raised her eyebrows. "It might be a while."
Shards, if the girl didn't want her - well, she'd never promised to treat people who didn't want to be treated!

Well... maybe she was better than no healer... Or the mildly creepy old man, Iaslia had never been a fan of how he looked at the younger girls. Provided this girl was competent... the redhead eyed her with suspicion. The pain lanced through her shoulder and she winced again. Better than no healer, this one was. I do not like the pain. Trust the healer.
My lady... she should try taking care of Nisurath some time... The newly hatched gold already heard those from nearly everyone she met. Of course Nisurath deserved it though. I do. Iaslia sighed, and dipped her head slightly, giving in. Were it not for the pain and a very persistent dragon in her mind she would have told this supposed healer a thing or two, as it was she needed her help.
"Provided the options... you have a point. I need help.." The redhead huffed. That was a hard one, damn Healers. Why didn't the Weyr have a master on staff? She would have to talk to E'dian and Gaelle about that one. This whole hiding things was really starting to get on her nerves. What did they have to be afraid of anyway? There wasn't anything anyone could do against a wing of dragons.
"In fact... I could really use a hand here..." Shard it all, she hated needing any sort of help. But she couldn't get her arm back in place on her own. And while Nisurath was perfectly willing to help, something told Iaslia that even a mildly competent healer's was better than a awkward hatchling's talons.
