Quiet was not something one could find easily at the Weyr, especially when one lived in the Barracks. She sat watching the sun set, knowing that her little green slept soundly inside the Barracks which was only feet away from where Havalie was sitting. The evening air rushed past blowing her long blonde hair every direction possible. A calm moment or two were very welcome in her life. Hava had always been a quiet person, never actually requiring other people to be present to make herself at home. Not that it has ever been put to the test growing up with a large family of siblings and foster siblings.
The breeze which had seemed faint at first seemed to be growing in intensity. Lightning hurtled to the ground, miles from where she sat. After a few moments thunder answered the lightning with loud crashing and rumbling noises. A storm was coming. “Probably a heat storm this time of the turn and no rain.” She sighed. They always seemed to need rain about this time. Thunder came louder almost shaking the ground and waking a very tired little green dragon. What is that sound? Sarenth was curious and nervous of the noise. Thunder. A storm is coming. First comes a flash of light that strikes the ground then the sky makes loud angry noises.
At first the green did not respond she was thinking about why the sky should be angry. It had no conscious nor any thoughts at all. Like many other of her kind, she took what was said literally and often was too logical to really understand why it should be explained in such a way. Storm is strange. I do not think I like it. Why do you watch? Havalie smiled and shook her head. I watch because its something you don't see every day. If it rains perhaps the dry season will come to an end sooner and the weather will not be so warm. I like it warm. You like it not warm but not cold. Humans are not very good at absorbing heat from the sun, like dragons are.
“Indeed.” Havalie was no longer smiling instead, she stared off at the storm. Her mind was miles away thinking about Threadfall and weather patterns, as the storm came closer and closer to the Weyr.

What is going on outside? Sounds like a storm, I wonder if the dry season is finally ending. Want to see it? In response the brown shoves itself off his couch and starts to head for the door. Smirking softly Nanyaa hops up off her bed, tosses the book down she had been reading and heads to the door to open it. It had been awhile since she had just watched a storm.
Hand on Niddalath's neck as they walk out, the two stop and just outside of the barracks and look up at the clouds. The sky was beautiful from the oncoming storm. For a moment both just stood there watching.
Rider, there is the green rider that was at the lake the other morning. You should greet her. You never let up do you. The dragon shoves his head into her back forcing her forward. With a soft sigh she steps forward.
"Beautiful sky is it not?" Her voice is soft as she approaches, remembering that Havalie was one of the more timid people she has meet.

When the blonde noticed the brown and his rider it was too late to hide herself from view. At least it was not someone she disliked. The other woman, Nanyaa seemed nice enough. After their lake excursion it would only be polite to reply, she pointed out to herself.
As per usual, Havalie was not prepared to say anything. She took a moment to gather her thoughts and reply to Nanyaa, “Oh. Hello” She paused breifly. “Good to see Niddalath is well. After that scare with Rovanoth, I thought the browns might be at risk as well.”
To the comment about the storm her eyes grew clouded with dark thoughts, “Yes, beautiful although dangerous at the same time.” The implications of having such stormy weather were almost more terrifying than the storm itself. “I should not like to be stuck out in it without shelter. Enjoying the view however is different.” As if she needed to explain herself to anyone. Havalie seemed to have no idea that her status as a Weyrling made her the equal of the other Weyrlings, greenrider or otherwise.
The earth beneath her trembled again as an involuntary shiver ran up her back. Her skin felt exposed to the seeking winds even beneath her clothes. Surprisingly the wind blew cold air, not something expected of a heat storm. “Do you think we'll have some rain? I know the farmers were hoping for some.” Not to mention anyone who had a dragon to bathe in the increasingly smaller lake.

"Well Niddalath seems just fine... hopefully the rest will all stay healthy. Every dragon big and small are needed." The girl looks around brushing her uneven short brown hair out of her eyes. "It is hard to say what the storm will bring, rain or not. Like everything else... we will ... just have to wait." Now what? Ask her about Sarenth, how she is doing, anything. easy for you to say, this is another who seems to have no want to talk. Then leave it be rider, you are the one whom has to get along with them. Must everything be so cryptic?
"How... how is Sarenth doing then..." Tilting her head to the side she can not help but cross her arms behind her back to keep from fidgeting. The few run in's so far with Havalie have always been awkward at best and ending in what seems like a want for distance. Nanyaa begins to wonder if she gives off this same impression, even when trying to be social. This social thing is annoying and seems nosy at best. Far to much effort when so many seem to just want to be left alone.
She decides to see how Havalie reacts and then leave the other girl in peace. After all, there is no point in straining what little repore she has with anyone.

Havalie nodded. Yes they would all have to wait and see. Waiting did seem a hard thing to do at times especially when one was nervous about what the storm could mean for the Weyr. The leaders of the Weyr were probably already working on what to do when Thread did fall. And it would. There was no doubt in her mind. Why the storm made her think of such things she did not know. Havalie sighed and closed her eyes a moment to let goof some of the more negative thoughts in her mind.
With a small smile she said, “Glad to hear Niddalath is well.” Her face brightened considerably at the mention of her green, “Sarenth is great. She woke up because of the storm for a little but I believe she has fallen back to sleep.” Trying to explain the green's sleeping habits she went on to say, “ I get her up fairly early so we can get a head-start on bathing and feeding before lessons.”
“Do you think the next lesson will be more interesting? I feel like the ones we have had so far are just reiterating what we learned as Candidates.” Which was so boring, especially to those who had been in more than one Candidate class before impressing. At least it seemed that no one was teasing her this time around. Whom she meant by no one was obvious though she would not even think the names to herself. They could always change their ways for worse or better.

"Well a lot of it is still new to me either way. I imagine the classes are going to be like this for a while. We all have a lot to learn I am guessing..." Especially her, having a fighting dragon it will be more trials then anything else. She knew there was a lot to be done and responsiblity to come between classes and just being a rider. But just like Havalie she to was anxious to get the pass going. Drifting off into her own thoughts she just looks at the ground wondering what the next lessons will be like.
Niddalath stops her thoughts from wandering to far with a forceful nudge to the shoulder. Letting out a loud snort and grabbing the brown's jaw she smirks at Havalie, "Well looks like I need to shove this one back into bed, he's getting unruly." He lets out an even louder snort shoving his rider again amused as Nanyaa's face reddens from embarassment at his behavior in front of someone else. Catching the girl off guard is about the only way to make her laugh. Smiling awkwardly and bright red she looks at the other weyrling.
"I am sorry he is being rather annoying, I think Niddalath thinks he is being funny..." Be glad I love you... sharding pain... horrid creature your doing this on purpose The Brown lets out an happy rumble .

She could not argue with that. They all had a lot to learn, especially their dragons who had not had Candidate lessons. Soon they would become more interesting, she reassured herself. “Well soon we should be studying geography and learning about flying and Between.” Flying being the best thing about having a dragon!
Havalie no longer stared at the storm but watched the display between Niddalath and Nanyaa. The greenrider was not phased by their interactions. Sarenth liked to mess with Havalie too. Trying to figure out what was acceptable and what was not. The green was learning when too much was too much as far as nudging went.
You could tell the dragonets nudged their riders with affection by the color of their eyes. Even now, when Nanyaa seemed to be irritated by the brown, she knew they cared more deeply for eachother than they would ever care for anyone else, human or otherwise. “I am sure he is doing it out of love.” Havalie reminded the brown rider with a kind smile.
“It probably is his bed time and ours soon after. Lessons are so early and then washing the dragons takes longer every day because they are bigger every day. I'm so glad greens are the smallest.” She grinned, slighlty teasing the other girl for having a larger dragon but not in a mean way.

"This is true... someone does need to go to bed... and yes he is a rather large pain to wash... but alas I am stuck with him..." She gives Havalie a small smirk, the day had been long and will only begin again much to soon. Getting the feeling it was time to let this conversation go Nanyaa give the horizion one last glance with a longing look.
Soon enough... Yes soon enough we will be flying, but no in that. One of us has to keep their mind about them. you can not tell me the thought of something like that does not seem at least a little exciting. I prefer to keep my tail warm not fried thank you Pity... well I guess only one of us can be brave. and stupid.
She lets out a soft chuckle and smirks again at the green rider. "but as you said it is time for all the lights to turn in... good night... tomorrow then? See which one of us can clean their beast first." Not sure how the other girl would respond she just shoves Niddalath at the barracks.

The blonde giggled. "Yes, I'm afraid there is no getting out of being impressed..." Other than one or the other of them dying which was not at all pleasant to think about. Havalie could not fathom living without Sarenth now that she had her. There were times she found Nanyaa peculiar but now was not one of them. The other girl seemed to be feeling a bit more comfortable around her which Havalie felt was a good thing.
"Of course. Sarenth and I will see you both at the Lake. I have no doubt I'll finish first. She winked at the brownrider. While Nanyaa was shoving Niddalath into the Barracks, Havalie was breathing in the air one more time. The quiet that settled between the rumbles of thunder were much appreciated but even she could not stay up and watch this storm. Sarenth and Havalie were always up early. Better to get an early start so that one was not late.
Quietly walking back into the Barracks she found her bed near Sarenth's couch and changed into her night gown. Before she knew it she had fallen asleep while the storm began to grow more wild outside.
