(I appologise if the quote isn't exact... at work and can't copy and paste it :/)
Kesstreil could see the excitment light up in Somadin's eyes. If she had to guess she could assume that the boy hadn't been near many dragons. She grinned at him as she started the walk back to the barracks. "Should be bring something if he is hungry?" She paused. "No, if he his hungry it just means a short trip to the feeding grounds." She continued her pace.
The small weyr that she shared was dimly lite. She kept it clean. It had always been her way, cluttered tight quarters made her feel trapped, so cleanliness and neatness had been a strong suit for her. The mattress was made, no clothing strewn about, everything had a place. The blue was curled up on his couch. His clear hide was like satin in the candle light. He was still dozing, though the sound of the two humans approaching roused him.
The young dragons eyes whirled a sleepy green color. Claralth looked at his rider, then at the small boy beside her, and back to her again. "Clar this is Somadin, he is a candidate." The little dragon rumbled a low greeting. She approached him and wrapped an arm around his neck, her hands scratched lightly on his eye ridges. "Well Soma, this is Claralth." She grinned.

In truth, despite growing up in the Weyr and around dragons, without parents who were dragon riders the only dragons he had been near had been those used for candidate lessons. And the little dragon was a natural novelty as it could have been Somadin in her shoes if he had just been ready.
Somadin noted the cleanliness in the back of his mind, but to be honest his focus was on the blue curled upon the couch. Following Kess, he stopped a step or two from the couch and gave his best attempt at a flourished bow he had seen others use. Loosing his balance just enough to need to take a step to his right to catch it, his face came up smiling.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Claralth.” Som’s eyes glittered almost as much as the faceted dragon’s eyes. “He’s a beauty Kess, just look at that pretty color he’s got to his hide.” Whistfully he added, “I wonder what shade of blue my dragon might be – if he is a blue at all that is.”

(I wasn't sure how to phrase it in the post so i'm just noting it here. Somadin would have heard a low somewhat raspy voice in the back of his mind.. IE Claralth did speak out to him. ) Claralths neck stretched toward Somadin, his eyes focusing to get a better look at the boy. He was curious about him. Kess watched silently. “He’s a beauty Kess, just look at that pretty color he’s got to his hide.” Her silver eyes moved to Soma. "Thank you." She grinned. "Lots of oil and regular bathing, and I still think its mostly just natural for him." The dragons thoughts were projected into her mind and she could tell he was interested. A pleasure indeed. His head careened to the left, still studying the boys features. “I wonder what shade of blue my dragon might be – if he is a blue at all that is.” Claralths eyes whirled a bright blue/green. He stared squarely at the boys eyes. There is no guarantee as to the color of ones dragon, but i am fairly certain that there is one in your future Clars head turned to look back at his rider. She gave him a reassuring look before looking up. She was fairly certain Soma would be in some form of shock. After all dragons weren't normally so forward with other people. Clar was a little special in that sense. She was planning on having a conversation with the Weyrling Master soon. Now it seemed she should do so immediately. In all of her lessons she was never taught that it was normal for a dragon to openly speak with other riders, though she assumed it was entirely possible.
