Kess wasn't so much troubled, more perplexed. In her trainings and lessons, even back to her candidacy had she never studied this sort of behavior. Hence her missions today. She was going to have to ask Master Phaedon for his input on the subject. He would no doubt know if Clar was acting within normal parameters. She straightened her tunic on her way into the infirmary, and ran her hand through her hair. Hopefully he wouldn't be too busy. Clar was napping, per usual, which was good. She wanted him to sleep, and eat, and grow.
The infirmary was busy as always. Shards there were so many people and so many dragons going in and out. She found herself caught up in the bustle of it all. An apprentice charged past her with a bowl of some sort of herb, another held a jar of some salve. It was all a little curious to her. She approached a friendly looking drudge who was writting something at a desk. "Excuse me, could you tell me where I might find Master Phaedon?" She didn't want to bother the woman, but she seemed the be the least busy.

Dragons were easier to care for when one did not have the whole Weyr looking to you for answers as to the health of Rovanoth and Nisurath. He would be more than happy to make an announcement or tell the Headwoman to handle it. It would be nice if no one bothered him for the next few minutes. In fact he was this close to dismissing his blundering apprentices and sending the journeymen out to study the dragons themselves. Phaedon rubbed his temples irritably.
He was heading into his office when he heard someone was looking for him. Promptly he walked over, about to tell whatever drudge it was, off when he recognized who it was. His face must have been interesting to watch as he went from irritated to suprised to relieved to worried in about thirty seconds. "Kess, come with me. My office is just over this way." He would ask this in private so no more drudges came worriedly asking about the blue.
After entering the room, he waited next to the door indicating with his arms that Kess could sit in the chair in front of the very disorganized desk. After she was settled he shut the door soundly. "Trust me, you do not want to know just how nosey the people of the Weyr are. If they see you in here right now they are going to blow this way out of proportion. " He sighed. Could not get any peace now that there was that incident with Rovanoth.
With a genuine smile he asked, "How is Claralth? I am assuming you've come to talk about him." Of course she was a rather caring sort, she could have come concerned about someone else.

The office was cluttered, as was what seemed every office in the entirety of the Weyr. It seemed like something of a habit for all leaders to catalog and chronicle EVERYTHING and file it for ages. Kess had never thought about it til then, but she could see the importance of knowing the goings on and the history of the people and creatures. She made herself comfortable in the chair indicated to her and watched as the master healer closed the door behind him. "Trust me, you do not want to know just how nosey the people of the Weyr are. If they see you in here right now they are going to blow this way out of proportion. " She stifled a laugh, she had always lived under the general assumption that each and every drudge in the weyr was an impossible gossip, her own mother included. "I understand sir."
She watched quietly as he settled. "How is Claralth?" She half smiled at the mention of his name. "He is well, thank you. I saw Rovanoth and E'vos they seem to be doing much better." Her voice held no worry in it. "I am concerned for Claralth though. Its nothing serious, or life threatening. He just has a way about him. A way of interpreting things." She paused for a moment. It was hard to put into words how she felt about it.

“Yes well make sure you spread that around the Weyr will you. Drudges seem to think I have nothing more to do with my time then tell them how Rovanoth and Nisurath are doing.” He shook his head, obviously irritated by the number of anxious drudges showing up here. Phaedon tried to understand what she meant by how Claralth interpreted things. “You mean he seems to interpret things differently from the others?”
Phaedon had absolutely no idea what that meant exactly. He had never been a dragonrider and obviously never would be. The man was studious enough to guess at the mental connection between rider and dragon. Some were closer than others which he assumed had something to do with telepathic capabilities of the rider and the empathy of the rider. He wondered if dragons had the same differences in level and capabilities mentally? Well it sounded as if Kess was trying to ask him a question that he would not be able to answer for her.
“This difference in thought well it would mean he doesn't think entirely based on logic. Maybe he is very empathetic? I am going to need more specifics to really understand this. I am no dragonrider so the dragon-rider bond is not as easy for me to discern as it would be for you.” There was no malice in his voice nor even wistfulness, as most people who wanted a dragon would feel stung by those words. Phaedon believed he was doing exactly what he should be doing.

Kess sat on edge in her seat. Not that she was particularly on edge, but more that she wanted to be polite. It hadn't occured to her that Master Phaedon wouldn't know exactly how a Dragon Rider bond felt. She blushed a little in her foolishness. "I am no dragonrider so the dragon-rider bond is not as easy for me to discern as it would be for you." She shifted in her seat. "Oh um." She flushed a little more and took a deep breath. "Its not so much how he perceives things, because honestly sir he's very logical and can remember unbelievable amounts of information. That includes other riders, and their dragons, who they know and what position if any they hold. Not to mention he knows when things are happening, or that he can sense them. Like when Rovanoth wouldn't wake up. We were walking in the hallway and he just stopped before the door to E'vos' weyr and said..." She lowered her voice to match that of the raspy deep dragons. "They're not quite right in there." Her brow furrowed in her attempt at the deep voice. She relaxed.
"Its not only that. He has spoken to others, on several different occasions." She starred at the desk before her. It wasn't like her to talk this much. She bit her lip and glared at the Master Healer.

Listening carefully, Phaedon took out his notebook and jotted what she was saying down. "I see what you mean. Unique really. I've heard of dragons being uncommonly social but Claralth seems to have more of a capacity in all areas not just empathy." Phaedon smiled over at Kess.
"If I were you Kess, I'd look at this as a gift. He is a very special dragon. I've never heard of anything like him though I'm not the expert on this. You might want to mention it to the Weyrleader. Dragons with special capablilities often end up being quite useful to the Weyr. I would not be suprised if he could already find a way to put Claralth's abilities to good use." He would not hesitate to tell the Weyrleader about this,or the Weyrlingmaster at the very least.
Pushing his chair back he leaned back crossing his arms over his chest. "If you could keep me updated if anything new occurs, I'd like to document this so that in the future if any dragon should seem a little different Claralth can be an example to learn from."

Kess looked up at the Master Healer, her silver eyes tracing his facial features. She didn't mind speaking in front of the Master Healer wasn't hard for her. He was comfortable, and unintimidating, much unlike the Weyrleader. Her cousins father, while just, was a hard man. He commanded respect, and more importantly he made Kess nervous. "Weyrleader E'dian, sir?" She bit her lip again.
"If you could keep me updated if anything new occurs, I'd like to document this so that in the future if any dragon should seem a little different Claralth can be an example to learn from." She rose from her seat and gave the master a slight bow. "Thank you sir, I'll be sure to report any changes. She smiled slightly and excused herself. Claralth would be waking soon from his nap and she wanted to be there when he woke up. The walk back to the barracks wasn't long but she wanted to get started.
