The other man had a good point. Eating light at breakfast was a good idea though he did want something healthy. A roll certainly would not cut it for him. Not at all. One the way to the Weyrhall he went over possible choices in his head. J'mie was going to cut up a few different fruits and have a salad with a small roll on the side. No klah, just water. The trim rider was not about to throw his rules out the window.
"The rolls are usually good. Sometimes I think they let the fruit sit out too long but they have a lot to do, they probably do not realize when the fruit becomes overripe till someone complains." He could be wrong of course though he very much doubted it.
With a turn into the Weyrhall he noticed there were quite a few people up and taking in some breakfast before the day really got going. "Wonder who else is up from Alpha Wing..." He trailed looking towards the alpha wing table.

A'riks eyes scanned the room before them. Several people were already seated and enjoying their morning meal. He peered over to the Alpha tables, but couldn't get a good veiw over the rushing drudges. It was morning afterall and the hall was rather busy.
"...they probably do not realize when the fruit becomes overripe till someone complains."
"Ah right fruit." He grinned and made his slow way to the table at the far side. "Sometimes its hard to remember things with so much happening." He glanced over to where a drudge was whipping down a table. He snatched up a tray and placed his aformentioned roll on it. Deciding that he was considerably more hungry he then grabbed a small bowl to which he added an apple and a citron, and finished with a cup of water.

Hmm. He thought scanning the choices available to him. Determined not to make another bad choice this morning, he took his time choosing the various fruits that ended up on his plate. J'mie did not bother to pick up a roll, delicious as they were he simply could not account for eating that this time of day. Not when he had slept too long to go running.
“I suppose that could be true of all of us.” Certainly riders were expected to keep up their standards no matter how busy. To do something half way or not the right way could end in death or injury of rider or dragon or both. Sighing, he realized he expected too much of the common drudge. He should have known better seeing as they were women.
Before walking to the alpha tables, he grabbed a glass of water. Changing the subject he added, “How many of this new clutch do you think are going to be in Alpha Wing?” It seemed to the greenrider that there were never enough riders in the wing and more could be welcomed but perhaps not the entire clutch. At that thought he found himself setting down his tray on the table before him and following suit by sitting down in the chair in front of his tray.

“How many of this new clutch do you think are going to be in Alpha Wing?” A'rik followed the greenrider to the tables and placed his tray down before taking a seat. It was a question that had crossed his mind already. Several of the Weyrlings were talented, and after having them as candidates he knew their strengths. He took a sip of his water and glanced up at J'mie.
"There is no question as to their abilities. I wouldn't be surprized if E'vos gained his own wing someday." He bit into his apple and chewed methodically. The hall around them bustled. The new bronze rider was hot headed and arrogent but smart. A'rik thought back to the first few times he had had the boy in his Candidate classes, oh the stir he had made. "I guess what I'm getting at is I would be happy with any of them flying Alpha." He grinned wide.

The greenrider nodded, listening to what the Candidate Master was saying. Perhaps they would all do well. If onyl all Weyrlings lived through training. It would probably be hard on A'rik to see some of them die. Personally he was not so sure about girls impressing.
J'mie was not against it but he felt that they were better off repopulating the Weyr and not creating holes in wings when they did become pregnant. Of course he was also slightly concerned about the possibility of his female dragon being caught by a woman on a male dragon. It could be quite complicated. Not something he wanted to trouble A'rik with.
"I suppose you would know their qualifications more than I. The Weyrlingmaster is not someone I envy right now. Anyone who has to train a Goldrider has a hard task set before them." The Weyrwoman before Gaelle had an attitude and so did Gaelle. I guess one could say they were a bit cantankerous at times. Knowing about rankers as he did now, he was much happier to have impressed to a green dragon.

A'rik ripped into his roll and took a bite. With two girl impressing blue and brown this clutch had indeed been an interesting one. He leaned back in his chair munching happily on his roll. "The Hatching went pretty much as I had thought it would, not that there weren't a couple of surprises. Iaslia was one I had thought would impress gold, even though there was not supposed to be one. I would have throught her not to impress this round but would eventually ride queen." He took a sip of his water. He didn't want to monopolize the conversation.
"What do you think of the surprise impressions this round? Girls on Blue and Brown?" He wasn't against it though he could see where some would find it worrisome. He was always interested in knowing what others thought.

Swallowing his latest morsel of fruit he nodded. Iaslia certianly came off as one of those self important types with an attitude. Definately Gold quality, plus her father and uncle now rode Bronzes, if that wasn't bloodline enough for you he didn't know what was. The topic of women on blues and browns was bound to come up and though J'mie wished he could be more understanding he did worry.
"To be quite frank with you A'rik, I'm concerned. Not that either of the girls would be bad as wingriders they seem to both be very level headed its more the personal things that bother me. If either of them were to become pregnant it would be a bigger loss to a wing than the occasional greenrider, though that bothers me as well at times. Mostly I'm concerned about flights. I'm not really sure how I would respond to waking up next to a woman no matter how masculine they were." In other words he was more concerned about how it would affect his life.
"I'm sure they are both going to be perfect for their dragons despite their genders. Its simply a pity that life is going to be more difficult for them than for men on the same dragon colors and also more difficult than if they rode green since greens are also female." J'mie had said it and it wasn't like he wanted confrontation he just couldn't restrain himself from being honest. He abhorred liars.
