Kess wasn't one to be nervous but there was something about the Weyrleader that made her so. Since Master Phaodan thought it best to bring her concern to the attention of E'dian, it was all she could do to pay him a visit. She herself didn't want to bother what must be an already busy man. The journey to the Weyrleaders weyr was a short one but she took her time, walking slowly. Maybe he wont be inside, or he'll be too busy. She tried to reassure herself. What could you be nervous about? Would the E'dian and Xialanth not want to know about what you and Master Phaodan spoke about? She stopped for a moment, as if the dragon were right beside her. You should be sleeping. A grin passed over her face, she could not be stern with Claralth. I am not tired. I had hoped that you would bring me with you. You're impossible.
She approached the door to the Weyrleaders weyr and gave it two gentle knocks. Drudges buzzed about her doing the many tasks they had been charged with. Her eyes followed them as they moved. Becoming a dragonrider had been a dream come true. She thought back to before the hatching when she had doubted if she would impress at all. That was in the past, her reality was Claralth, her life becoming consumed by his care. To be honest, she wouldn't have it any other way. This new little dragon was her responsibility. Which brought her back the reason she was seeing E'dian in the first place. The strange behavior of her dragon, his ability to know things, his forward thinking, and comfort in speaking with other riders. It made her uneasy.

A low, distracted voice echoed from inside the weyr in response to the knocks. "Come in." The Weyrleader's weyr was spartan and neat, as was nearly everything about the man that occupied it. The only area of disarray was the large round table in the corner of the main room. This, also as usual, was covered with scrolls and charts. E'dian sat in the chair, one arm looped over the side as he looked up from the work. As he caught sight of the blue Weyrling peaking in around the door he waved absently. "Kesstriel, come in. What can I do for you?"
The records room lay to the right, connected to the weyr nest to where the Weyrleader was currently sitting. On the long side, farthest away, was the entrance to the sleeping room and then out to the ledge on which Xialanth currently rested. It was not often that the bronze was away from his Queen, but Gaelle had gone out hunting that morning and with drills in a candlemark or so, Xialanth was soaking up all the sun he could before hand.

Kess hesitated for a moment before stepping into the Weyrleader's weyr. It was neat inside, the man obviously found no room for clutter, aside for his appearent work station. She approached the round table stopping just short of it. Her eyes scanned around her, finally landing on the Weyrleader, who was seated behind the table concentrating on the work before him. "I hope I am not interupting anything?" She grinned slightly. It wasn't her usual fashion to speak with the leadership of the Weyr, even if he was her cousins father.
It wasn't E'dian exactly who made her nervous, it was people in general. Just take a deep breath, really Kesstriel, sometimes you are far too upity for your own good. She did as she was told, and waited for E'dian to look up from his scrolls. After a moment she openned her mouth. "Master Phaedon said that I should being my concern to you, as he does not have a thurough understanding of the link between dragon and rider." She bit her lip, after her short burst of conversation. It was a habit of her. Hey, stop with the biting.... it is not good for you or your lip.

As Kess began to speak, E'dian leaned back in the chair and crossed his arms across his chest. For him, it was simply a thinking pose but to those that did not know the man well, it could indeed seem disapproving. At the girl's statement he did quirk one eyebrow upwards. She had not gone to N'sian with this? Well, Phaedon's judgment had never been off. This must be interesting indeed to warrant a Weyrling being sent to the Weyrleader instead of her Master. At least she had gone to the Dragon Healer first, that showed good judgment on her part as well.
E'dian unfolded one arm and waved for Kess to take the unoccupied seat opposite him. "You are not interrupting, I am simply studying old threadfall records." That of course was something E'dian could always be counted on to be doing in free time. Social skills were by far the man's weakness, but an able mind and a passion for work were his forte. Well she was interrupting, but if Phaedon sent her it was more than N'sian could solve. Which, considering the man had been Weyrleader for over forty years, was saying something indeed. "And what is the concern?"
He watched as her eyes went distant, clearly that blue of hers was a chattering one. Interesting that, a blue picking a girl. Of course a brown in the same clutch had done so. Two things so unheard of in one clutch. It had most of the Weyr's tongues wagging and most did not view the Impressions as anything good. Girls on greens were bad enough in some eyes, the older, hidebound riders were not at all pleased with this new change. But, by all accounts if anyone could handle it, it was Kesstriel and Nanyaa. Perhaps, E'dian mused, that was the reason the dragons had chosen them. Of course, the only ones who could answer that were the dragons and they were not exactly forthcoming.

Kess took the seat motioned to her, and crossed her legs. The thought had crossed to mind to approach the Weyrling Master with her concerns but when the Master Healer had said to come to the Weyrleader, she did as she was told. "I was surprized when Master Phaoden said to bring this to you, but I guess the Healer would know best. I've been noticing things in Claralths demeanor." She took a deep breath in, "A way about him. A way of knowing things as they happen. When Ravenoth was ill, we had been walking in the hall. Claralth just stopped before the door way and turned, without seeing inside he said" She lowered her voice, mocking that of her dragons, or at least what she thought he would sound like, "Their not quite right in there." She glared at the Weyrleader. It wasn't her usual style to speak this much and she flushed slighty.
She lowered her head and spoke again. "There is a bit more, he remembers things, like names of riders and their dragons, what they are like and any ranks they may hold in the Weyr. He also has on a few occations spoken to other riders, not just their dragons." She was close to scarlet now. She pushed the hair from her face and took a deep breath then raised her eyes to meet the Weyrleaders.

As was his usual want, E'dian sat and listened as Kess spoke. Clearly she was a tad agitated about the whole thing and dealing with Gaelle had taught E'dian some about tact, not very much, but some. He ran a hand through his hair and simply gave her the room to talk. Women really did seem to like to talk after all, he really couldn't figure that, but such was nothing new. The information about the dragon was something altogether more interesting though. He dropped his hand back to his lap as Kess finished speaking and nodded slowly, clearly processing the information.
"Well, its certainly nothing to worry about." The first thing to do with a Weyrling was to assure them that there was nothing wrong. Both a young human mind and a young dragon mind were fragile. "Dragons always have an innate sense of where they all are. They never collide in air after all. Your Claralth seems like a talented lad. The memory especially is unusual, most dragons never name people or places, much less speak to them directly." E'dian cleared his throat and half smiled in an attempt to look reassuring. "Both are very valuable assets in a dragon and I would foster them in him." He nodded once more, Phaedon had indeed been right about sending her to him. Such a memory in a fighting dragon could make things interesting. It was a common belief that dragons fought threadfall with such fervor because they did not indeed remember previous injuries and scoring.
"I shall make sure that N'sian knows about this too, a dragon with a decent memory... is well... unheard of. Some are better than others, but I know of none like your Claralth. You two will be assets to your wing and your class. I wouldn't worry at all, it would be interesting though to see what his limits are. Dragon minds develop somewhat faster than ours, he should only get better as he gets older." The Weyrleader half smiled again, he would really have to keep tabs on this one. It would be interesting to see what an especially sensitive beast like that could do as far as Search. E'dian chuckled inwardly, J'sian might lose his title when this one grew to maturity.

The remark lingered in her ears as she pondered the weight of it. Claralths memory would only get better with age, meaning in time he would hopefully prove useful. Kesstriel rose to her feet. The Weyrleader had made several good points. Claralth's skills were not to be looked at as a bad things at all. In fact she was sure that in time they would prove to be a blessing. "Thank you Wingleader." She inclinded her head slightly before dismissing herself.
The meeting she thought had gone well.
