Lessons were one thing, but family was another. J'sian was of the firm opinion that for any Candidate or Weyrling to learn was hands on experience. And he was never a man to pass up help with anything that remotely resembled a chore. Out on his ledge, Alimeth lounged in the sun, looking forward to what was coming. Today, J'sian had asked his young cousins to help in oiling the large blue dragon. On a recent Search, J'sian had managed to dislocate his shoulder while he dismounted. This of course, was pure carelessness and he hated every day his arm was in a sling. Among other things, the bum arm made oiling a dragon even more of a chore than it would be normally.
While he waited for his cousins to arrive, he pulled the bucket of oil out to the ledge with slow and painstaking movements. Sharding arm really needed to heal. Stupid show off, trying to leap from the back of a dragon. Those bronzeriders did it all the time, but for some reason, he couldn't even manage it from a blue. I am a large blue. I am sorry you slipped, it hurts.
The shaven headed rider laughed and leaned against his dragon. At least the rain hadn't started yet today. It was still warm and the sun felt simply fantastic. J'sian sighed and patted Alimeth absently. "Its not your fault my love. It was a silly mistake." The blue dragon rumbled and shifted to push his nose against J'sian's stomach. It is good it was me. A silly bronze would have been a much father drop. "Thats true!" J'sian found himself laughing once more. "Well, Nanyaa and Navace should be here soon."

Nanyaa rubbed her eyes sleeply walking half a step behind her brother as they headed to help J'sian for the day. She was a little surprised when J'sian had asked for their help, but would be better then pretending to listen in classes for a day. Not to mention she never got to spend time with Navace since the hatching so it could be fun.
Yawning loudly she stumbles slightly, still exhausted from barely sleeping again. While never being a morning person since Niddalath she seems to sleep less. The ledge was not to much farther thankfully. Once again yawning and stretching slightly she nudges Navace softly from behind, "Brother, I think you should carry me the rest of the way." Smirking slightly to let him know she was actually joking she lags behind a little more.

Having already doused his face with cold water, Navace was already fully awake before they had even started their walk to the the ledge. They had walked mostly in silence until he heard her ask about being carried.
He walked a few more steps before turning around and looking at her with a smile. "I'm not sure you would want me to carry you...I'm afraid if I dropped you your dragon might try and use me as a meal."

She shrugs slightly, "yeah your not as strong as I am," Smirking she passes him up and decides to try and wake herself up. Turning on a heel she takes a playful swing at Navace's arm yelling. "I am faster too, beat you there!" She takes off in a quick jog to see if he follows suit before actually running. He was lost in his own little world it looked like so best get him out of it before they get to J'sain and wake herself up in the process.
While they had never really spent a ton of time with their cousin, it would be different and Nanyaa looked forward to working with another dragon to get an idea of what it would be like later. Alimeth was large for a blue, but Niddalath being a brown would probably end up being larger. There was a lot she had to prepare for having a fighting dragon, and surely her brother would impress in a later clutch so this will be good for him too. "Come on! You run like I should!"

"Sticks and stones dear sister!" He called after her. It felt a little childish to say but so was hitting him and running away. He just shook his head and grinned despite himself.
He started to run after her, letting go and pushing himself harder than he normally would.

Actually letting out a giggle Nanyaa runs as fast as she can trying to stay just a head of her brother. It was good to see him let loose a little, neither of them do often. Though they are still very young they have always felt as if they have to be older then they actually are. Playing was rare but fun when it does occur.
Her giggle carried as they run to the top of the ledge and she skids to a halt trying to catch her breath, face flushed. Face reddens more as she realizes how loud they must have been and how silly they must look. Coughing loudly she takes a few deep breaths waiting on Navace, hoping their cousin does not think anything of this.

Breathing much heavier than his sister he came to a stop a couple of steps from her and paused putting his hands on his knees while trying to catch his breath.
"Is that...the best...you can do...sister?" He says with a smile while slowly getting his breath back.

(( At least a paragraph for each post please. ^_~))
At the sound of giggling coming from the corridor, J'sian made his way carefully across the small Weyr and pulled aside the heavy curtain that covered the doorway. He peered out and seeing the pair of twins he grinned and waved with the good arm. "Come on in you two, Ali is waiting!"
He left the curtain hanging to the side and slowly made his way back across the small room and out onto the ledge where Alimeth was laying. The blue stood up and spread his wings obligingly, oiling was one of his favorite parts of the day. J'sian patted the dragon's forearm absently then went to reach for the bottle of oil and a brush. Foolish arm, he was going to need help like this for a good week or so. It was good to have family.
