The majority of Weyrfolk thought of firelizards as a nuisance and while Phaedon generally agreed, he wondered if they could be trained. A gold, like his, would be easiest to train having a higher mental capacity. She was already showing him images easily and while he knew she could have bonded with anyone in that cavern he wondered if she chose him for a reason. Probably not, they were really food driven creatures.
The gold sat on his shoulder, trying her very best to look proud and deserving of adoration. "Glow, stop that." The firelizard was showing him rapid images of his apartments he shared with his wife and bubbly pies and her special bed. He projected an image of the dragon infirmary to which she let out a low guttural noise.
"You could always stay home without me..." He spoke knowing words were useless. Then he showed her an image of her in her bed and then with him not home. She understood, sending warm feelings and emitting a crooning sound. "I guess you'd rather be with me then." Glow was a bit of a silly thing and though she understood basic images he often wondered if working with a dragon would help. Dragons however, seemed to feel less than obliging when it came to firelizards.
He made sure when he had left earlier to pack snacks for the little thing, she seemed to eat small meals throughout the day which was quite different from dragons. He was making notations in a seperate journal about the developement of firelizards. Others may not find them important but they were related to dragons, one could see that without knowledge and one never knew what was still the same about them. He could learn something new from all of this.
He entered his office, stony expression on his face. There was a lot to think about with the Hatching fast approaching. He wondered if his apprentices were even close to having those salves made in case a dragonet got scratched or injured itself on an egg. One never knew. Sometimes they even fell on top of one another though that was more rare.
